Stocks have rebounded nicely thus far this month but are we in for a tough week?
The Dow Jones ended last week at a record closing high and the S&P 500 ended the week just under its high. The strong week was driven, in part, because of strong corporate earnings.
Even with supply shortages and bottlenecks, third-quarter earnings have gotten off to a great start and given stocks that extra boost.
For the week ahead, for whatever reason, the end of October tends to be a historically weak period. Could this week follow that historical tendency? It could all come down to tech. Some of the biggest technology companies are reporting this week including Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook, and Alphabet. Given the weight of these companies in broad-based indices, they will most likely decide what kind of week it is for stock market performance.
