Economic data and positive vaccine news helped stocks move higher last week. But, can momentum continue?

Last week’s economic data showed an economy that is recovering more quickly than expected.

The bigger question is whether the recovery can maintain this momentum given the surge of Covid cases in certain parts of the country and the economic pauses these states are implementing.

This brings us to the week ahead, where earnings season kicks off and it’s going to be one of the worst earnings seasons in years. Typically, I would say focus on expectations and forecasts that are provided during these earnings calls, but given the current environment with Covid – will management teams even provide an earnings forecast? Just another reason to make sure you are properly diversified.
